Our Oz-some Alpaca Adventure!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!

I have just come back from putting the alpacas out in the pasture – they are always so happy to go out!  We are so pleased that we were able to get the fences up last year so that they can go out to graze on the 20 fenced acres of our 47 acre pasture.  They are so much healthier, and their teeth do not grow so fast, as they have to use them more to bite off the grass, rather than just pull it from a bale! We keep discovering more new things as we are on this alpaca adventure – rather like Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man, Straw Man and Toto  in Oz!  I never expected I could still put them out in the pasture in January – but although it is very cold now, there is no snow, and their fleecy coats keep them as warm in the pasture as they would be in the paddocks near the house.
